I had the pleasure of working with Dr Andre du Plessis for the first time today. I hadn’t worked on a patient needing sedation for dental treatment since 1992, ie 30 years, so I was slightly apprehensive about how it would go. I didn’t share my concerns with Andre, as he had enough to occupy him by managing the patient. However, his calm, competent manner and evident expertise, were a joy to behold and he managed the collective anxiety perfectly. He was delightful to the patient, reassuring her and managing her needs, whilst quietly communicating with me throughout.
