Governance & safety

What keeps every appointment safe

The systems, checks and people behind every case, delivering the same standards and the same care wherever the appointment happens — reassuring if you’re the patient, and exactly what you’d expect from a service you’re calling on to support your own patients.

How we’re regulated, and reviewed

Our CQC compliance is reviewed on an ongoing basis. Our core team of sedationists has completed well over 32,000 cases since Sedation Solutions was founded in 2011, and every new sedationist joining the team completes a structured mentoring period before working independently — carrying that tried-and-tested approach forward, so patients can expect the same standard of care from anyone on the team.

Clinical audit is ongoing and includes feedback from every patient. Equipment and the medications we use are monitored and audited centrally, and sedation records are reviewed and discussed as a matter of course. Any case that raises a point worth sharing is brought to our continuing medical education meetings, so the whole team learns from it.

Each patient is seen by a dedicated sedation clinician, separate from the dentist or doctor carrying out treatment, with clear discharge criteria in place before anyone leaves the practice. We carry appropriate professional indemnity cover for all clinical activity, with full details available on request.

Clinical oversight

Clinical governance is overseen by Dr Will Botha, working closely with our Chief Operating Officer, Dan St.John-Hore. Between them, they keep every protocol we work to current — practice agreements, registration documentation, emergency kit checklists, controlled drug registers, and everything in between — reviewing and refining each one as standards and requirements evolve. What this means for you

If you’re calling on us to support your patient, this is the framework you’re actually booking — not just a sedationist for the day. If you’re the patient, it means every step of your appointment, from assessment through to discharge, is being quietly checked by someone whose sole focus is making that journey as comfortable and safe as possible.
